Pallet trucks go electric

Alongside our recent successful audit and renewal of our ISO 14001 accreditation, it underlines our commitment to controlling the environmental impact of our activities.

The diesel forklift previously moving equipment around has been replaced by two electric pallet trucks, contributing to a 30% reduction in our total diesel emissions.

This is in addition to our recent investment in new equipment that means that we are working more efficiently, consuming less energy in our activities and producing less waste.

Our managing director Ronnie Watt said: “The investment in electric equipment means we can reduce our own carbon footprint which is important in Nexus’s own net zero journey.

“Like our ISO accreditation, it shows we are improving our environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

“As a company, we have also embraced the circular economy, supporting our clients in reusing, recycling and re-treating equipment that helps them achieve their own environmental ambitions.

“Last year, we invested in a new crane, electric furnace and blasting cabinet that have reduced our energy consumption and reduced waste. For example, the new blast cabinet uses 15% less energy and produces 20% less waste.

“Continuous improvement is an important ambition within Nexus, and these allow us to improve both our performance and the quality of our service, as well as identify efficiencies and improve client relationships.”

Nexus also was recently re-accredited with its ISO 9001, which helps us to continually monitor and manage quality across Nexus and identify areas for improvement.

In addition, it aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of our quality management system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
