The North-east of Scotland has always been known for oil and gas, but a less well known fact is that the region accounts for more than 20% of Scotland's food and drink output.

The area leads on the production of Scotland's quality primary produce from land and sea and is home to some of the country's most iconic brands. And it employs more than 22,000 people.

We’ve got soft fruit and seafood, distilleries and dairies and as well as primary producers, we’ve got the mighty food manufacturers and it’s here we’ve been able to help.

Spotlight on Xylan

One of our most popular coatings is Xylan.

Nothing sticks to Xylan, a high performance, low friction surface coating so it may come as no surprise it’s closely related to Teflon. You may have read about its similarities to Teflon in an earlier article, and yes, you are on the right track.

Xylan and Teflon are both brand names for fluoropolymer coatings, but they are manufactured and marketed by different companies with differences in their formulations and applications.

Applications of Xylan coatings span across different industries. They create a smooth, slick surface that resists sticking, making them ideal for use in cookware, bakeware and other applications where a non-stick surface is desirable.

In food processing, it’s used in equipment such as moulds, trays and conveyor belts, where it prevents food from sticking and improves release properties.

Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight is being held this month with the theme “discover what’s on your doorstep”.
